Swift PDF Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 18, 2026
Last updated: July 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Swift PDF: Reader & Scanner, Android package com.swiftpdf.reader.scanner (the App), handles information. The App is provided by Mecilo (the Service Provider, we, us, or our) as a free service with optional in-app purchases.
Swift PDF helps you scan, read, convert, organize, and manage documents. Core document work is designed to occur on your device. We do not upload the contents of your PDFs, scans, or gallery images to servers operated by us unless a feature clearly asks you to send or share a file.
1. Information the App may process
When you install or use the App, the following categories of information may be processed to operate features, maintain reliability, understand usage, and support advertising:
- Device and network information: IP address, device model, operating-system version, language, app version, approximate location inferred from IP address, and network or connection information.
- Identifiers: app-installation identifiers and, where available and permitted, the Google Advertising ID for advertising, attribution, fraud prevention, frequency capping, or analytics.
- Usage information: screens or features used, timestamps, session duration, interactions, and broad performance information.
- Diagnostics: crash logs, error reports, stack traces, and technical information about the state of the App when a problem occurs.
- Document metadata: information such as file name, type, size, page count, and creation or modification date when needed to display, sort, convert, scan, or manage files. The App does not use document contents for advertising.
- Support communications: your email address and any information you choose to include when you contact us.
The App may store recent files, preferences, scan results, generated PDFs, temporary conversion files, and other working data locally on your device. You control locally saved documents and can remove them through the App, Android settings, or a file manager, as available.
2. Permissions and why they are used
The permissions available to the App depend on your Android version and the features you choose.
- Camera: used when you choose to scan a paper document. Camera input is used to capture and process the scan you requested.
- Photos and media (
READ_MEDIA_IMAGESon newer Android versions): used when you select gallery images to create a PDF, add pages, export pages as images, or use another image-based document tool. - Storage (
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGEon older Android versions): used to open, create, convert, and organize compatible files on Android versions that require this permission. - All files access (
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE), where requested: used for user-initiated deep storage scanning, junk-file identification, duplicate-document review, file organization, and cleanup features. The App uses this access only to provide the storage tools you choose to run. - Notifications, where requested: used for progress, completion, or service notices related to tasks you start.
Storage scanning is intended to inspect file metadata and eligible file locations so the App can identify items for your review. Deletion, cleanup, sharing, and export actions are initiated or confirmed by you. You can grant or revoke permissions in Android settings. If you deny a permission, the related feature may be unavailable while basic PDF reading or other unaffected tools may continue to work.
3. How information is used
We may use the information described above to:
- Provide scanning, reading, conversion, editing, organization, and storage-management features.
- Save your settings and restore recent in-app activity on the device.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse or fraud, and diagnose technical failures.
- Measure App reliability and understand which broad features are useful.
- Show and measure advertising, including non-personalized advertising where required by law or selected by you.
- Respond to support, privacy, or deletion requests.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal documents or use their contents for marketing.
4. Third-party services
The App may use third-party services that process limited device, identifier, usage, advertising, or diagnostic information under their own terms and privacy policies. Depending on the App version and region, these services may include:
- Google Play services
- Google AdMob
- Google Analytics for Firebase
- Firebase Crashlytics
- Meta technologies, where used for advertising attribution
- AppLovin, where used for advertising
These providers may process IP-derived approximate location, device information, identifiers, ad interactions, usage events, and diagnostics. Their handling is governed by their own policies. We do not intentionally send PDF contents, scan images, or gallery images to advertising or analytics providers.
Android, Google Play, a document provider, camera app, sharing destination, print service, or other app you choose may also process files under its own privacy practices when you use that service.
5. Advertising choices
The App may display ads. Depending on your region, device settings, consent choices, and the advertising services available in the App, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.
You can manage advertising choices through the consent controls shown in the App where available and through Android or Google settings. You may also reset or delete your advertising ID using your device settings. Limiting personalization does not necessarily remove ads; it changes how eligible ads are selected or measured.
6. Data sharing and disclosure
We may disclose limited information:
- To the service providers listed above so they can provide analytics, advertising, crash reporting, security, or platform functions.
- When you direct the App to save, export, print, share, open, or send a document using another app or service.
- To comply with applicable law, legal process, or an enforceable governmental request.
- To protect users, the public, the Service Provider, or the App from fraud, abuse, security threats, or violations of our rights.
- As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or transfer of the App, subject to appropriate notice and safeguards required by law.
We do not sell your PDF contents, scans, gallery images, or locally stored documents.
7. Retention and deletion
Documents, scans, temporary files, recent-file history, and preferences stored locally remain on your device until you delete them, clear App data, or uninstall the App. Files exported to another folder or provider remain there until you remove them from that location.
Support messages are generally retained for no longer than 12 months after the inquiry is resolved unless a longer period is needed for legal, security, or record-keeping reasons. Analytics and crash information may be retained for up to 24 months, subject to the settings and retention practices of the relevant service provider.
You can stop future App collection by uninstalling the App. To ask about information associated with a support request or identifier, email privacy@mecilo.com. Because the App may not require an account, we may be unable to identify a particular analytics or advertising record without enough information to verify and locate it.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we process. Core document tools are designed for local processing, and sensitive permissions are used only for the features that need them. No system, transmission, or storage method is completely secure, so you should protect device access and review documents before sharing them.
9. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact privacy@mecilo.com so we can investigate and take appropriate action. A higher age threshold may apply in some countries.
10. International processing
Third-party providers may process limited technical, advertising, analytics, or diagnostic information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms and appropriate safeguards. Local document processing does not by itself send your document contents to our servers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, its permissions, SDKs, data practices, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised policy on this page and change the effective date. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or request consent before a material change takes effect.
